TOMORROW X TOGETHER minisode 2: Thursday’s Child: A First Breakup in Five Songs

Denial, dejection, anger and loss. BIGHIT lists the stages of a first breakup in its introduction to minisode 2: Thursday’s Child, and the album goes through each one. It’s also the record where TXT split into units for the first time, and where the members contributed creatively to every track.

The story: after the farewell

Thursday’s Child is TXT’s fourth mini album. The Weverse Shop pre-order notice gives the official release as May 9, 2022 at 6 p.m. KST. Weverse Shop notice

BIGHIT calls it “a post-farewell recollection.” In its introduction: Official album introduction

  • A first breakup hits like a powerful storm, mixed with denial, dejection, anger and loss.
  • The protagonist feels each of these emotions fully as it comes.
  • Finally, he accepts that the relationship he treasured is over.
  • Moving from adolescence to adulthood, he understands himself and the world better.

It ends with a question: on what path of growth will his feet lead him next?

BIGHIT also calls TXT “Gen Z’s ‘it’ boys” in this introduction.

Five songs

# Song Length Note
1 Opening Sequence 2:58 —
2 Good Boy Gone Bad 3:12 Official video
3 Trust Fund Baby 2:36 —
4 Lonely Boy (The tattoo on my ring finger) 2:49 One of TXT’s first two unit tracks
5 Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go 3:31 One of TXT’s first two unit tracks

Track order and lengths: official discography page

BIGHIT says the members made creative contributions to all tracks on the EP.

The album title comes from track 5. Thursday’s child has far to go is a line from the traditional English nursery rhyme “Monday’s Child,” about the day of the week you were born.

Our take: BIGHIT describes a story that moves through stages, from the breakup to acceptance. The track list is short enough to follow that in one sitting, so listen in order the first time.

Good Boy Gone Bad

The Good Boy Gone Bad video went up on HYBE LABELS on May 9, 2022, release day. Each member had an individual teaser first. A choreography version followed on May 21.

Compare that title with how BIGHIT introduced TXT two years earlier, on Blue Hour: “the kings of innocence.”

What Weverse Magazine noticed

Weverse Magazine, HYBE’s own magazine, pointed out that Opening Sequence works in two ways. It frames the breakup like the opening scene of a movie, and it also opens the album itself. In the magazine’s reading, the last song, Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go, works as both a new start and the movie’s ending. Weverse Magazine: Thursday’s Child review

A separate review looked at how Good Boy Gone Bad brings rock into a K-pop boy band’s sound. Weverse Magazine: TXT+Rock=Good Boy Gone Bad

That summer, TXT finally toured the U.S. The ACT: LOVESICK dates began in Chicago on July 7, 2022, and the run ended back in Chicago at Lollapalooza on July 30. Weverse Magazine: OUR LOST SUMMER
