Here’s something that surprises a lot of new fans: on the OMG single, the song that came out first, Ditto, is track 2. Ditto’s videos came out in December 2022, two weeks before the release itself. OMG, the title song, arrived on January 2, 2023. The single was built to carry NewJeans from one year into the next.
A two-week rollout across the holidays
All times are in Korean time (KST), based on the official upload dates on the HYBE LABELS channel.
| Date | What came out |
|---|---|
| December 19, 2022 | Ditto (side A) and Ditto (side B), two official videos released together at 6 p.m. |
| January 2, 2023 | OMG, the title song’s official video, at 6 p.m. |
| January 3–4, 2023 | OMG (Performance ver.1, ver.2 and ver.3) |
The hashtags tell the story. The Ditto videos were tagged #NewJeans_of_Winter. The OMG video was tagged #Year_of_NewJeans.
Ditto: one song, two sides
Ditto got two official videos, labeled side A and side B, like the two sides of a record. They went up on December 19, 2022, nine seconds apart according to their upload times.
Both list MIN HEE JIN as producer and Wooseok Shin of DOLPHINERS FILM as the music video director.
Our take: Watch side A and side B back to back, in that order. Two videos for one song is a strong hint that the story is meant to be seen as a pair.
OMG: the title song
The official Weverse Shop listing names OMG as the title song and lists the single as two tracks: Official Weverse Shop listing
| # | Song | Official videos |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | OMG | Official MV, plus three Performance versions |
| 2 | Ditto | Side A and side B |
The OMG video also comes from Wooseok Shin of DOLPHINERS FILM, the same director as Ditto.

Into the Billboard Hot 100
OMG was the release that took NewJeans onto the main U.S. chart. According to Weverse Magazine, HYBE’s own magazine: Weverse Magazine: NewJeans on the Hot 100
- Ditto debuted at No. 96 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week of January 21, 2023. It was NewJeans’ first song on the Hot 100.
- Ditto had already reached No. 8 on the Billboard Global 200 a week earlier.
- OMG debuted at No. 30 on the Global 200 and entered the Hot 100 two weeks later at No. 91.
- By the week of February 11, both songs were on the Hot 100 together, Ditto at No. 90 and OMG at No. 77.
A later Weverse Magazine piece put Ditto’s and OMG’s best Hot 100 positions at No. 82 and No. 74. Weverse Magazine: NewJeans eyes new records
Why the order matters
If you discovered NewJeans through Ditto, the track list can feel backward. Here’s how to think about it:
- By release date, Ditto came first. Its videos were out two weeks earlier, in the middle of winter.
- By the official track list, OMG comes first because it’s the title song.
- By hashtag, Ditto belongs to winter (#NewJeans_of_Winter) and OMG belongs to the new year (#Year_of_NewJeans).
Our take: OMG works best as a two-part story told across a holiday break. Play it in the order it came out, Ditto first, if you want to relive how fans experienced it.
