How do you get fans excited about an EP before it’s even out? NewJeans released videos for every song on Get Up, spread over three weeks. One featured The Powerpuff Girls. Another was shot entirely on an iPhone. By the time the EP arrived, most of it had already been seen.

Our take: Get Up is an EP you can almost watch from start to finish. Every track appears in an official video, and two songs, Cool With You and Get Up, share a single video. That makes side B the one to save for last. And the opening song shares its name with the group, so the EP starts by saying who they are.
Cool With You: side A and side B again
NewJeans used the two-sided idea again here, after Ditto. Cool With You got a side A video and a side B video on the same day. Side B also covers the song Get Up. A Performance version of Cool With You followed the next day.
No. 1 on the Billboard 200

- Super Shy debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. US charts, with 63 million streams. It entered the Hot 100 at No. 66, NewJeans’ highest at the time.
- Get Up went to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for the week of August 5, 2023.
- On August 3, 2023, NewJeans played a 45-minute set on the main stage at Lollapalooza in Chicago.
At the end of the year, Super Shy showed up on critics’ lists, according to the magazine: No. 2 for NME, No. 3 for The Guardian, No. 6 for Rolling Stone and No. 7 for Pitchfork. Stereogum named Get Up its No. 1 EP of the year. The magazine also noted that the group worked with songwriters new to K-pop, such as Erika de Casier. - Play the EP from track 1 to track 6. It’s six songs, so it’s a short listen.
- Then watch Cool With You side A, then side B. Side B is where Get Up comes in.
- Finish with ETA’s video. It was released on release day, and it’s the one shot on iPhone.
