Have you ever smelled something and suddenly remembered a moment from years ago? That feeling has a name, the Proust effect, and RESCENE built their whole identity around it. Their debut single album, Re:Scene, was their first “scent”: floral. It came in two very different flowers, one dreamy and one on fire.
Scene + scent
According to their agency, THE MUZE Entertainment, the group name RESCENE combines scene and scent. The idea is to call back a scene from the past through scent, the way a smell can bring back a memory. THE MUZE: RESCENE
The agency says RESCENE take the Proust effect, the psychological idea that scents can bring back past memories, as their musical inspiration. Their two keywords are “scent” and “music,” and each album is meant to present a different scent.
The group has five members: WONI, MINAMI, LIV, MAY and ZENA.
The first scent: floral
THE MUZE describes Re:Scene as an album with floral scents up front, using flowers to show the members’ elegant side. The debut came with two songs that show two sides of that flower: THE MUZE: Re:Scene

So YoYo came out almost a month before the debut itself, and then got a performance video six weeks after.
