Most groups release an album and then tour it. BLACKPINK did it the other way around. The DEADLINE world tour started in July 2025, the lead single JUMP premiered on its first night, and the mini album named after the tour arrived seven months later, after the last show. According to YG Entertainment, it was the first full-group album in about three years and five months.
What “DEADLINE” means
YG revealed the name in May 2025, as the title of the tour. It explained the word in two ways: a trigger for extreme focus, and “the final moment you can’t take back.” YG: tour title
When the mini album was announced, YG added to that idea. It said the album would be full of “the best moments that can’t be undone” and “BLACKPINK’s present, shining brightest in this moment.” YG: track list
Our take: A deadline usually sounds stressful. Here it means “now or never,” which suits a group returning after a long break.

YG says the decision to premiere the new song in Goyang came after a lot of discussion. It chose the first stop of the tour because that was where the group would be reunited with fans.
JUMP: BLACKPINK go hardstyle
YG calls JUMP (뛰어) BLACKPINK’s “bold debut in the Hardstyle genre.” It opens with a guitar riff that recalls a Western film, then builds with powerful beats, an unpredictable hook and vocal lines that show each member’s character. YG: JUMP
The credits mix longtime and new collaborators. TEDDY, who produced their debut in 2016, co-wrote the lyrics and music. Diplo co-composed and co-arranged it.
The countdown was full of hints. Before the title was revealed, the group’s social profiles read “DO NOT JUMP,” and the first teaser was called “READY TO JUMP?” YG: title reveal
The video was directed by Dave Meyers, a Grammy winner, according to YG. The teaser showed the members flying through the city like comic-book heroes, with camera moves between high-rise buildings. YG: MV teaser
How JUMP did

- YouTube: No. 1 on YouTube’s global weekly songs and music video charts in its first week. YG: YouTube
